TWO SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SEMESTER COURSE IN PEACE AND CONFLICT STUDIES, PUDUCHERRY, INDIA
The Norwegian organisation Kulturstudier (Culture Studies) is offering two 10-week scholarships to South Asian nationals wishing to attend the university undergraduate course in Peace and Conflict Studies in Puducherry, India. The program is offered in cooperation with Oslo University College which issues Internationally transferable university credits (30 ECTS credits (European Credit Transfer System)).

The course is suitable for:·Students who wish to include the discipline of Peace and Conflict Studies as a part of a bachelor degree. · Professionals (teachers, diplomats, NGO workers, etc.) and others who seek further education in international and trans-‐disciplinary subjects. Course period: 10 weeks in India is preceded by
4 weeks of self-‐study with internet-‐based supervision. The term in Puducherry will begin on 30th of August and last until 5th of November, 2010. The Scholarship includes:
– Tuition fees
– Breakfast and Lunch from Monday to Friday during the 10 weeks in Puducherry.
– Accommodation (in double or multiple room sharing with other students)
– Travel expenses
– Monthly allowance covering basic expenses during 10 weeks in Puducherry Requirements:
The applicants are required to hand in the following:
1) CV,
2) A short paper of 1000 words, and
3) A motivation letter.
In addition to the Curriculum Vitae (CV), the short paper should be of no less than 1000 words, and answer the following questions:
Present and critically discuss the concepts of conflict and peace:
What are the different meanings and explanations of conflict?
What are the different meanings and sources of peace?
Which meanings and causes of conflict and peace do you think are most important, and why?
