In the wake of the earthquake that has devastated several areas in Nepal, here are a few places you can donate to. Do bear in mind that while donating money is always helpful in a crisis, it is better to do some research and send it to trusted, transparent and accountable organisations. Aid will be necessary to enable short-, medium-, as well as long-term efforts. Here is a list of reliable places we recommend:
Maiti Nepal provides security and supports women in distress.
Spinal Injury Rehabilitation Centre, to support the victims of spinal injury, including those in various stages of paralysis and require a range of long range services.
Nepal Orthopaedic Hospital is providing free medical treatment to all patients
Child Workers in Nepal Concerned Centre (CWIN) supports children and works for their rights.
Kathmandu Valley Preservation Trust, to support damaged and destroyed cultural heritage sites.
Madan Puraskar Pustakalaya (MPP) is an archive of the Nepali languages, whose building has been damaged and is now working out of a temporary office.
Animal Nepal is taking care of animals injured during earthquake.
Chhetrapati Free Clinic is a community-run non-profit health clinic.
