Comments For 'Stifled hotbed'

A Great article. It is nice to see Dr. Srithanran again. I was a student when Dr. Sri was there. I was proud of what we were able to do during our time. We had a major issue in our society, where we couldn't do almost anything against armed groups without the support of other groups. But with the support of some academic staff like Dr Sri, Rajini ("Madam") and Dr Hoole we were able to do something. using the space created when LTTE and IPKF were busy in fighting with each other. Thank you Dr. Sri for writing this. We live to hear more from you.

The need of the hour is for the Tamils to look at the mistakes they continue to make. Even this writer rides over how the Sinhalese Registrar of Jaffna Univ (Mr. Wimal-Surendra) was assaulted in 1976 and sent home. Sinhalese students were also assaulted and terrorised, well before 1977. Tamils have yet to condemn the murderers of Alfred Duraiappah etc, and reject the Vadukkoddai resolution which called for "exclusive" Tamil homelands (i.e, Tamil form of Apartheid), while we ourselves have colonized Colombo since the opening of the Colombo -Jaffna railroad in 1905. We have to clean our own stables before we can expect the Sinhalese to do things for us. We have to get rid of the TNA which supported the LTTE, and give up the concept that the "end justifies the means".
