Bloggers
Himal Southasian is looking for enthusiastic bloggers to contribute to Himal’s newly launched blog ‘Over the top’ (www.himalmag.com/blogs). The assignment will be for an initial period of three months.
Apply if you would like to:
- Write a minimum of two original and exclusive weekly contributions to the blog;
- Write with a Southasian audience in mind, making local/specific topics accessible to and interesting for readers across territorial boundaries;
- Write in a personal and honest voice;
- Write blogs that are conversational and humorous in tone, yet expert in nature.
Apply if you have:
- Experience with blogging (either on your own blog or on other platforms);
- Excellent command of the English language, but rooted in local cultures and happenings;
- Informed knowledge and in-depth understanding of the history of and current affairs in the region;
- A sense of humour.
The position will be un-paid; Himal Southasian will, however, provide the blogger with a platform and quality readership to gain experience and furnish their skills as a writer. Sharing the blog-space with distinguished and well-known writers, the individual will gain the opportunity to build a fine reputation as a blogger. He/she will be given artistic freedom to write on any/all subject that are not offensive in nature including literature, politics, culture, music, economics, society, etc., as they pertain to Southasia.
To apply, please familiarise yourself first with Himal’s current and past coverage by looking through our archives at www.himalmag.com. Then send us an example of a blog you have written (include weblink), and a brief cover letter describing your blogging interests (choice subject areas). Also, include your CV and links to either your previous work or to your own blog. The application should be sent to uroojz [AT] himalmag [DOT] com.
